Dear
Guns & Patriots readers,
The year 2012 could not come fast enough.
After the stop, go and cave dance we went through in 2011, it is finally time to get serious about electing a pro-gun rights Congress and President.
In the coming year, we will be bringing you more gun reviews, more gun news from Washington and the statehouses and more news from our military serving overseas.
Many of you were surprised last week to learn that our Marines were in Malaysia. This week, we have a news video from Sgt. Maj. of the Army
Raymond F. Chandler III visiting the troops deployed to Djibouti, the small former French colony on the Horn of Africa.
Also this week, a look back at the reaction to the December 27 article in the
New York Times about the number of concealed carry permit holders in North Carolina, who commit crimes and who, although they are felons or have demonstrated dangerous behavior, retain their permit rights. We have both my interview with F. Paul Valone, the president of the Grass Roots North Carolina gun rights advocacy group and my interview with the
Times reporter Michael Luo about his methods and his take on why Valone is so upset—oh, and Valone is upset.
This week, our featured video is a look at Army sniper students and their ghillie suits, which is a part of their sniper culture that I never get tired of checking out. Our Go button will take you to the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
I also need to sneak in here a "Happy Birthday!" to my son Sean Patrick, who turns a ripe 25 today. You are a great son, Sean, and I am very proud of you.
Enjoy,

Neil W. McCabe
