Obama wants raise for federal workers

By Julie Pace

WASHINGTON (AP) - AnObama administration official says the White House is proposing a 0.5 percent raise for civilian federal employees in its 2013 budget.

If Congress approves the measure, it would mark the first pay increase for federal workers since the two-year freeze ordered President Barack Obama ordered in 2010.

Republican lawmakers have suggested extending the freeze for federal workers as one way to pay for a full-year extension of payroll tax cuts. A short-term, two-month extension is due to expire at the end of February.

The official says the White House notified agencies of the proposal Friday morning. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because a formal announcement has not been made.

The White House proposal was first reported by The Washington Post.

After going 2+ years without a pay raise or anything like that, while the Welfare rolls got bigger in the effort to reelect the “Free Cake and Ice Cream” president, i think i could go another few years w/out a raise, but i think getting rid of the “Czars” appointed by bummer at GS17+ would be a better choice-for every “Czar” fired, you could hire 5 people at a decent working rate if not more!

No he isn’t! He wants to give his ‘kiss my backside’ worthless people a raise while the rest of Americans suffer and cannot find work. Remember how many Government jobs in his administration he has added and they cannot even stop the corruption of the monies they are to oversee.

There should be a hiring freeze and a pay raise freeze. Shrink bloated government. Obama thinks government is everything and he will grow it till it crushes us. He is not one of us.

Time to reduce the size of the military to what is necessary to defend America. Let South Korea and Europe pay for their own defense. RON PAUL IS RIGHT.

OMG! WHAT?!??!? Unbelievable. There are people with NO JOBS or low paying jobs all over the place. It is absolute insanity to give ANY RAISE to ANY government PAID workers during these times. The government workers with common sense and thoughtful integrity are grateful to have a good job! Whenever faced with a decision — this President makes the WRONG CHOICE! (Only good choice was to get OBL and that was a no brainer which he also knew he could use in his reelection campaign)

Exactly. How many employees of privately owned businesses are forgoing raises in the hopes of keeping the doors open and their job secure? Of course, the government doesn’t seem to worry about running up debt it can never pay back. It just raises taxes and prints more money.

How much of a raise did the military get? Look into it. Can we really afford to give free medical and a pension equal to 60% of their pay to people who retire before age 50?

This is the pay part of votes that are bought and paid for. Private industry has had cut backs of more then 20%, yet this government has grown 20% since the Imaculate One has been in office. There are now more $100K+/yeargovernment jobs than ever before. What do they do? How can we tell they’re doing it? And is it important enough to borrow money to pay for it? This government is out of control. They’re spending money they don’t have and the electorate (at all levels low to high income) can not be physically taxed enough to cover the costs of this government, yet government continues to accelerate its spending. Maybe we should use the brake for awhile instead of the accelerator. Just a thought. May be we should grab another gear, how about reverse?

How many “Military” died or were Crippled so you could talk that way about them risking thier lives and well being? Try dealing with 130 degrees for 12-18 months at a time, while people are trying to kill you, THEN come back and make remarks about how people working fast food jobs equates to the Risks involved by Service members. Make that a Really Long, Hard look instead of a quick excuse to continue-and remember We, past and present members of the Military, fough for You AND don’t like Bummer Either.

Everyone that has been hired by Obama Administration hasn’t been doing the job they were hired to do in the first place. So how does he think the deserve a raise, oh, he is our DICTATOR, his butt his is! He is a OUR lowly community organizator, OUR SERVENT! Start do the job the LOWLY DEMOCRATS put him in to do! I wouldn’t hire any of them for my business. This why the country is going bankrupt because of OBAMA!

These last few days have shown Obama’s true character, and it is Congress’ fault that they haven’t reined him in before now. They have had several opportunities to stop his dictatorial maneuvers, but they have done nothing except whine and complain. The U.S. citizens have written, phoned, emailed, and discovered that Congress does not represent them, the judiciary does not protect them, so we are on our own. After well over 3 years, there is still NO court in this land that will hear a case regarding Obama’s eligibility, the House will not even discuss impeachment, and Obama keeps pushing the envelope. What’s left–armed revolt?

Just Obummer trying to buy more votes. A raise like this wouldn’t even cover health care costs increases. Most fed employees I know are very grateful for their jobs. Military service members earn whatever benefits they get. Perhaps as a veteran I am more biased but I appreciate their service and sacrifice and don’t begrudge them any of the benefits they earned.

Even if they get raises, a lot of the federal still won’t vote for him. More and more liberals as well are crossing over. The ones who won’t are the ones you see on blogs etc…saying how great he is..they get a ‘thrill down their leg’ or he’s so charismatic..the gays and closet gays who have fantasies going on so they don’t see or care to see what he is doing to this country. Of course they are a small percentage thank goodness!
