Obama Sides with Whackos over Workers- Kills Another 3000 Jobs
The EPA went last-minute Christmas shopping for votes this year to stick in their boss’, um… ballot-box shaped stocking. Once he realized his economic plans wouldn’t create jobs, Obama has been like an employment Typhoid Mary, killing jobs wherever he can in order to boost support from his whack-job supporters in the hopes for some votes, any votes.
In a desperate bid to win back support of the enviro-whackos who have been critical of the Obama administration, the EPA issued a final ruling on MACT standards that will shutter up to 60 coal-fired power plants, costing an estimated 3000 jobs in the plants alone.

A typical coal-fired plant employs an average of 54 workers.
The move was blasted by Congressman John Sullivan, Vice Chairman of the House Energy and Power Subcommittee as the “EPA gone rogue.”
“Utility Mact is the most expensive rule EPA has ever written for power plants – its going to layoff American workers,” said Sullivan, “could shut down over 60 power plants all together and raise the price families pay to heat their homes this winter. EPA has gone rouge – they are catering to radical left wing environmentalists instead of presenting a workable plan that protects the environment as well as American jobs.”
EPA said that by shutting down the plants, they’ll be preventing 17,000 deaths per year caused by polar bear cannibals, er, strike that…by pollution…yeah… pollution. Of course they provide little-to-no data to support the claim. Indeed, in one place the EPA revises the number downward to 4,200-11,000global warming, er,...pollution deaths. With the many global crises going on, it’s hard to keep track of which crisis the Democrats are saving us from on any given day.
The EPA trotted out the new death statistics in the spring after meeting opposition to the new MACT standards by those silly people who would like to keep their jobs and the rest of us who’d like to pay reasonable prices for electricity, presumably so that we can all keep our Chevy Volts going- 33 miles between a 12 hour charge!. You know? When we aren’t driving our Nat Gas powered Pelosi-mobiles.

Did you vett the list Steve? Do you see that these scientists just might have an agenda of their own as the basis for this letter? Mind you that's just the top 4 who signed the letter....looking down the list I can see possible conflicts for a number of the others as well

First, the MACT standards where promulgated by the EPA in 2005, during the Bush Administration. So some of the credit/blame of the standards should be shared.
Ransom cites a number of sources, mostly industry sources. Fine, I could also cite NRDC reports that have contrary positions. Let’s look at a more unbiased source, the Congressional Research Service. In an extensive analysis called “EPA’s Regulation of Coal-Fired Power: Is a “Train Wreck” Coming?” They looked at all of the pending EPA regulations, MACT being just one of them.

How many will be retired and what will be the effect? The numbers are similar to what Ransom quotes but he neglects to point out that EPA regs are not the driver for the retirements.

I will give Obama one thing. He knows how stupid most Americans citizens are. He knows he can say endless "hope & change" crap and many of them will buy it, even though they are unemployed for 3 years because of him. Hell, he still has about 40-50% approval, depending on what day they ask!! How effin stupid must a person be to sway "yay or nay" in a matter of a few days? Obama knows. The House passed “Cap and Trade”, which will shut down the coal industry needed by many other industries and reduce (end?) oil drilling for fuel for diesel locomotives, which will return us to the Stone Age. Barry wants “Cap and Trade” enacted by the EPA.
Coal generates electricity which powers trains driven by UNION railroad workers.
A few steam engines still use coal as fuel.
Coal is dug by UNION mine workers, then transported by UNION railroad workers.
Iron ore is dug by UNION mine workers then transported by UNION railroad workers.
Coal heats iron so it can be shaped by UNION iron workers, then transported by UNION railroad workers.
Coal is roasted by UNION members to become Coke used to convert iron into steel by UNION steel workers.
Coal heats steel billets so they can be formed into beams, sheets, plates, bars, rods, rebars, pipes, etc, by UNION steel workers, then transported by UNION railroad workers.
Steel is made into solar panels, windmills, car parts, and other parts by UNION steel workers in foundries and machine shops then transported by UNION railroad workers.
Steel pipes are fabricated and installed into piping systems by UNION pipe fitters.
Almost everything, including reinforced concrete, is made of steel or by using steel, which can no longer be made without coal, by UNION members who will lose their jobs.
Barry gave a German company a 6-billion-dollar contract to install solar panels in California, after getting an American company to spend $535 million to build a new “green” factory in Fremont, California to make solar panels. This plant shut down.

I gre up in a liitle town in New Jersey across from the city..anyone coming into town to work had to get a permit from the police, they knew who was supposed to be there and who was not.
