Weekly Round Up: The Double Dose

Posted: 02 Mar 2012 12:48 PM PST

Last week, I didn’t get around to posting the weekly round-up because I was out of the office all day. So, this week, we’ve got a double-dose. :)

First of all, on the homefront:

  • There’s obviously a lot going on in the realm of politics these days. But, from an Internet perspective and an online marketing perspective, how are these GOP candidates doing? So, I sat down and recorded short site critiques of the websites of the 4 GOP presidential candidates – from the standpoint of conversions.Which GOP Presidential Candidate Has The Best Website?
  • On Wednesday, I released the second episode of my podcast,The Blog Program. This episode has to do with 11 blog monetization strategies.
  • Privately, I’m working on a brand new project that I can’t WAIT to tell you about. Oh, and keep your wallet in your pocket, because you won’t have to pay a dime. Stay tuned. :)

Now, let’s look at what’s going on out on the Interwebz.

Design Is Marketing
One look at Apple, and we know the headline of this post is totally true. A great post over at Quicksprout.

17 Copy And Past Blog Post Templates
Pat was away getting his wisdom teeth yanked, and he lined up some awesome guest posts. Running out inspiration for a blog post? This might cure it.

8 Blogging Lessons I Learned from Being Scammed by a Marketer
Catchy headline, but it works. Some great lessons about marketing in this post. But, one lesson that goes unstated in this post is this… instead of hating marketing and trying to avoid it at all costs, become an astute observer of it and LEARN from it.

How To Start A Busy Forum In ONE Day
This is an old post, and I don’t even remember how I came across it. But, a VERY creative strategy for jump-starting a forum. A lot of people either give up, or end up resorting to fake conversations with multiple fake profiles (uuggh). This idea is a lot better.

Top 10 Tips for Conducting an Exceptional Interview
From Pat Flynn, so I’d guess he knows. ;)

Blog Smarter: A Step-by-step Strategy to Boost Your AdSense Earnings
A nice “meat and potatoes” post on earning more from Adsense, written by my friend Daniel Scocco (from Daily Blog Tips), but guest-posted on ProBlogger. He just launched a course on the topic, too.

Launch Watch: Documentaries, Apps and A Giveaway
You think my weekly round-ups list up good stuff, Jade Craven’s launch watch posts blow mine away.

11 Must-Read Blog Posts That Will Take Your Business to the Next Level
Another compilation of links to other good articles. Of course, he also linked to me, so…. ;)

Timeline on Fan Pages: 6 Things you Need to Know
In case you hadn’t heard, Facebook is changing fan pages. Again. Switching to a timeline view, with the cover photo. And, apparently, no default tab (which is going to make squeeze pages on Facebook more difficult). Here’s a post which explains things in full.

How to Master Pinterest for B2B Marketing
An Inner Circle member (Cynthia) forwarded this one over to me, and its a goodie. If you’re trying to figure out how the hell Pinterest plays into your online activities (as am I), then worth the read.

Lastly, I thought I’d make you aware of something that MindValley is up to. MindValley is an impressive company, based out of Malaysia. I’ve heard their CEO, Vishen Lakhiani, speak a few times and he’s vey engaging. Well, the company is “open sourcing” all of their business operations, and basically revealing it all in a free training area. You don’t even need to opt in or anything. So, it is a good resource, and I thought I’d make sure you knew about it. Check out MindValley Insights. And you can learn more about it in this (killer) about video.

.

Oh, and lastly (for real this time)… and a change of gears…. I want to wish a public “Happy Anniversary” to my wife, Malika. I’m not sure if she’ll ever see this (she doesn’t read my blog super often), but we’ve been married for 5 years as of tomorrow (Saturday). Somehow, she puts up with me. And I with her. ;) I love you, honey.

.

OK, see you guys next week.
