(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama has tried to portray himself as a champion of the average American against a wealthy elite. However, a new Rasmussen poll found that 65 percent of union members say they believe Obama is more liberal than they are.
The poll also found that 59 percent of likely voters think Obama is more liberal than they are, an increase of 7 points from last month.
When asked if in political terms President Obama is “more conservative”, “more liberal”, or “about the same,” 59 percent of respondents answered Obama is more liberal than they are, while 11 percent said he is more conservative, and 25 percent said they have views that are “about the same” as the president.
The pollster recorded that 65 percent of likely voters who are also union members said they think the president is more liberal than they are--7 percentage points more than the non-union respondents who feel the same way.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters nationwide was conducted on March 7-8.
Rasmussen posed the same question but instead applied it to Republican and Democratic members of Congress. 62 percent of respondents believe the “average Democrat in Congress” is more liberal than they are, and 47 percent believe the “average Republican in Congress” is more conservative.
Question #4 of the survey asks: “Would it be more accurate to describe the agenda of Republicans in Congress as mainstream or extreme?” Forty-six (46) percent of respondents described the Republican agenda in Congress as “extreme” whereas 41 percent thought “mainstream” was a more apt description, which is a decrease of six percentage points from February.
Conversely, 50 percent viewed the Democratic agenda as “extreme” and 38 percent chose to describe it as “mainstream.”
The Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows President Obama slightly behind Gov. Mitt Romney in a hypothetical 2012 presidential race. As of March 15, 26 percent say they “strongly approve” of the President’s job performance and 41 percent “strongly disapprove.”

Union members need to remind their unions that they're not to use their dues to support only Democrats, members have a right to choose.

This is a Rasmussen poll which discredits it right off the bat. Rasmussen is an branch of the right-wing smear machine. The only people who report their findings is Fox News. Don't take this poll seriously.

The reason Rasmussen polls often differ from those done by other companies is because they only survey likely voters. Personally, I think voters are the ones who determine elections. Would you like to disagree with that?
  • bbyank
I blame the voters for this!!!. Boy! Obama fooled all and you voters fell for it. Stupidity among voters.  What does spread the wealth mean America? Its call Socialism. Next time read between the lines. Wake up, use your brains.!!

When will America wake up to the fact that this pos, potus is not a liberal democrat, but a full blown marxist/nazi/communist that is hell-bent on transforming us into a NWO communist state where the government controls the banks, all national resorces, manufacturing and labor. Are you all better of than you were 4 years ago?..I dont think so..Anyone that votes for this idiot in 2012 is a moron...
  • Barry_Solyndra
It doesn’t matter what the Socialist Party Media (SPM) says this president is in deep, deep, trouble!  Americans have woken up, they see what this Marxist and his SPM are up to, why else would Mr. Solyndra’s polls drop among women after his SPM manufactured contraceptive crisis?  President Solyndra and his SPM are in full scorched earth re-elect mode with that said watch closely for executive order granting full citizenship (voting rights) for illegal’s this October.

A recent survey shows that 83% of people asked, believe that 75% of polls are manipulated 35% of the time to the poll takers objective.
Which leads to a 95% probability that there is a 67% chance that if you fall within the 63% bracket of believability, that the poll must be right or wrong with your opinion.

The Democrat Party is the true American Socialist Party because that's how socialism creeps into free societies...under the guise of a more mainstream movement.
