'180' is turning heads, changing hearts about life
| More than a million views on YouTube, 200,000 DVDs given away on college campuses and thousands and thousands of copies of Ray Comfort's "180" the movie already sold.
It appears that Comfort, an author, evangelist and filmmaker, was right when he said, "In '180' we have a nation changer."
Billed as "33 minutes that will rock your world," the "180" film is a stunning revelation that, first, many people simply are unaware of the diabolical evil imposed on the world by Adolf Hitler, and, second, they are largely unaware of the facts about abortion and its tremendous toll on life in the U.S.
The concept for the film began when Comfort, a best-selling author and TV producer, took a camera to the streets to get university students' views on Adolf Hitler and was shocked to find that many didn't know who he was.
"I came back to our studios with 14 interviews with people who thought that he was a communist, or an actor, or they had never even heard of his name," Comfort explains.
The resulting intense discussions about societal attitudes about life and death lead naturally to a discussion of abortion, which Comfort describes as a horror worse in numbers than the Holocaust.
The testimonies that have been flooding in sometimes are heart-wrenching:
• "Today I watched the movie for the second time and the gravity of what I did 14 years ago brought me to sobs."
• "I was at an abortion clinic on the sidewalk (with my laptop), had two young ladies stop and watch the trailer that is in the special features. Then afterwards they watched the 180 DVD all the way through. One was four month's pregnant, the other was three. They were both going there for an abortion; they were both in tears, hugged my neck and decided to give their babies life and choose adoption instead. I cried too. Praise God for 180."
• "I confess, I have committed 7 murders! GOD forgive me, I will never NEVER AGAIN trivialize abortion. NEVER again will I agree with the lie."
• "I am from India. I had a very distinct opinion about abortion and there was no way that I can condolence my mind anymore that killing a baby for any reason is reasonable ... this video rocked my mind so hard..."
• "I had always thought I was an 'open minded person' when it came to abortion. But after viewing this movie, my stance has changed."
• "I've had multiple abortions and I've heard abortion compared to the Holocaust before. But, I've never understood why…"
• "The most powerful salvation/pro-life video I've ever seen. It made me cry. The logic and common sense is incredible!"
• "I pastor a small church in West Texas. I will show this, this Sunday to my congregation. I began to pray today it will wreck their comfort zone as it has mine."
• "After watching it the first time, I was not pleased with the movie at all. I had anticipated the premier of this documentary for months and after watching it you make me feel bad about myself. But after praying, I realized that you were right and I was wrong and that had to repent to God as soon as possible."
• "I worked at an abortion clinic, God forgive me, and I didn't see one 'egg' or 'pile of tissue.' My job was to assist the Dr. during the abortion and then clean up the mess after. The doctor just did his thing and left the room. … I quit."
• "By far the most in your face, tell-it-like-it-is video ever!"
• "This movie moved me to tears."
• "I have always been opposed to abortion, although I will admit I was a little soft on the incest/rape situation. Never more will I be. I wept uncontrollably when the number of babies killed was shown." Actor Kirk Cameron called the project, which you can get for yourself from the WND Superstore, "a powerful piece of media that leaves a lasting mark on your heart and mind."
Comfort, who is Jewish, had been working on research for his next book, "Hitler, God and the Bible, coming in February from WND Books.
He was surprised to discover there are many who simply don't recognize Hitler and cannot say just exactly what it is he did.
Cameron's endorsement of the "180" project was joined by Mark Hall, lead singer of "Casting Crowns," who said the movie "totally rocked my world."
Comfort said one church placed an order for 16,000 copies. And, even though the initial order for "180" was 200,000 copies, supplies are short already and new orders for hundreds of thousands of additional copies of the DVD are set.
"Keep in mind that this isn't a one-minute humorous clip that doesn't bite into your day. This is a commitment of 33 minutes of intense film," he said.
The DVD is also inspiring discussions across the nation on talk shows, chat rooms and on a new forum set up at WND.
The video follows Comfort's winning formula of colorful, fast paced street interviews popular in the award-winning "Way of the Master" television series.
The series, in its fifth season, is co-hosted by Cameron and is viewed in 70 countries on 42 networks.

Ray is the world's No. 1 TV evangelist
You know him as the leading teacher of personal evangelism in the world today – from his TV series "The Way of the Master," which he co-hosts with actor Kirk Cameron.
But Ray Comfort is much more than the man who makes street evangelism fun and easy on his television show seen throughout the world. He is also one of the most prolific Christian authors alive today.
His ministry has been commended by David Wilkerson, Franklin Graham, Ravi Zacharius, Joni Eareckson Tada, John MacArthur, Josh McDowell and many other Christian leaders.
And you can best get to know him through his books.
Comfort is intrigued by atheists and evolutionary theory, thus, many of his most recent titles have focused on these issues:
|
- In "Nothing Created Everything," Comfort confronts atheists with the hard truth of their own theory – namely that "nothing created everything." Since modern science has come to grips with the reality of the universe having a beginning, the key question that needs to be considered by every person on Earth is, "What or who created the universe?"
- Then there's "You Can Lead an Atheist to Evidence, But You Can't Make Him Think."Yes, it's been said that "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." If there is no thirst, the horse will not drink. The same is true for atheists. If there is no thirst for God, there will be no search for truth. Comfort assures us, however, that something more than the evidence of creation must spur the atheist to head for the truth. Is there real evidence for the existence of God? If God is in control, then why is there suffering and death? Is there any evidence for life after death? The answers are in this amazing book. With this offer, you also get "The Atheist Bible" and "The Charles Darwin Bible" free.
- In "God Doesn't Believe in Atheists," Comfort proves to atheists that they don't exist, reveals to agnostics their true motives, and strengthens the faith of the believers. This book answers questions such as "Who made God?" and "Where did Cain get his wife?" The book uses humor, reason, and logic to send a powerful message.
- In "Intelligent Design vs. Evolution," Comfort carries on a long e-mail conversation with a self-avowed atheist who thinks Ray is a complete idiot for believing the universe was created by God. Ray doesn't hit the delete button. Instead, he patiently answers the man's challenges one by one. Guess what starts to happen as the conversation advances. The debate is passionate, heated, personal, tender, humorous, and engaging. Ray punctuates each point he makes with an aside for the reader, explaining his rationale and giving the reader generous resource material. The net effect is a lesson in evangelism – perhaps the most unusual ever constructed.
- In "How to Know God Exists," Comfort argues the case with simple logic and common sense. If there is a God, surely He has made His presence known so that anyone, young or old, scholar or schoolchild, can find Him.
- In "Evolution: A Fairy Tale for Grownups," Comfort poses 101 questions to shake believers' blind faith in the theory. Well known evolutionists reveal in their own words the unscientific nature of that in which they have so blindly put their faith. After reading this book, the reader will be in the position to make a well-informed decision about the widely accepted, however poorly proven, theory of evolution.
- In "What Your Nose Shows," Comfort takes some of these same puzzling, mysterious issues to children in an entertaining and enlightening message.
- Have you ever actually read Charles Darwin's "Origin of the Species"? Ray Comfort makes it easy to do so. So why are evolutionists so bugged at him for republishing it? Find out.
