A double standard for tolerance
POSTED BY JUDSON PHILLIPS   |   MARCH 26, 2012

This story did not make the news in many places. About 20,000 atheists gathered in Washington on Saturday.
They had one simple message: Show contempt for religion.
Atheists are not the most tolerant bunch of people. Most atheists are liberals, and liberals are not known for being tolerant, so the two go hand in hand.
Can you imagine a rally of say Christians, who had a speaker that said, “show zero tolerance for anyone who disagrees with or insults Christianity?”
At the rally on Saturday, David Silverman screamed at the throng to “show zero tolerance for anyone who disagrees with or insults atheism.”
Really?
What happened to tolerance? What happened to the idea of freedom of conscience? What happened to the idea of respect?
The answer is atheists and the far left do not have respect for tolerance, freedom of conscience or other people’s beliefs.
That is why over the last hundred years, atheism has had such a wonderful track record. The atheists of the old Soviet Union sent countless humans to the Gulags. They destroyed hundreds or even thousands of churches. Some of them were priceless historical treasures. The Chinese atheists did the same thing. The list goes on. Everywhere the far left took power, the atheists went with them and persecuted anyone who dared to disagree with them.
There is a reason the hard left and atheists go together so well. They hate the competition of ideas. They are little people with little minds who are threatened because people disagree with them.
Boo hoo.
They like to call themselves free thinkers. Non-thinkers would be a better name for these fools. Yeah, here is a little zero tolerance for you clowns.
Most real Americans do not care what other people believe, within reason. If you want to be a Baptist or a Catholic or not believe at all, most of us don’t care. We will let you believe what you want as long as your beliefs are not going to interfere with our beliefs.
