To all Arizona Parents and Taxpayers:

Several important events are coming up in the next few days, hitting the key issues of education policy and tax reform:

* The Kickoff Event for School Choice Week will take place this coming Friday morning, January 20, at EDU-PRIZE Charter School in Gilbert. For details on the Kickoff, and for other School Choice Week events taking place January 20-27, go here.

* Americans for Prosperity Foundation will host aneducation town hall at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22 at the Radisson Phoenix-Chandler, on the SE corner of the I-10 / Chandler Blvd interchange. The town hall will feature a live simulcast by national policy commentators Juan Williams and Hugh Hewitt, and audience questions will be answered by Jonathan Butcher of the Goldwater Institute, Liz Dreckman of the Arizona School Choice Trust, and Tom Jenney of AFPF-Arizona. We need to move school choice policies forward quickly to keep the Arizona and American school systems from failing yet another generation of children. Please register for this event here.

* The Goldwater Institute and the American Legislative Exchange Council are holding a policy forum at Goldwater at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 23. Arizona's economy is struggling in the recession and faces tough competition in the global marketplace, so we need to stop tinkering with the tax code and THINK BIG on tax policy if we want to create real jobs and ensure our prosperity. Economists Stephen Slivinski and Jonathan Williams will explain how the road to Arizona’s economic prosperity begins with tax reform, including the elimination of the income tax, a broadening of the sales tax base, and a lowering of the sales tax rate. For event details and registration, go here.
