A busy Wednesday, with the Rick Santorum campaign undoubtedly on cloud nine. After two unexpected (at least in the media's eyes) victories last night in Alabama and Mississippi, the former Pennsylvania senator can finally put to rest the question: who is the Romney alternative? Santorum has proven to his critics that he is truly the only candidate that can win the deepest of red states.
With that being said, Mitt Romney has a very key race in Illinois next week. It's the new Michigan for a few reasons. One -- it's a battleground state, chock full of independents and undecideds who need to see Mitt Romney as someone who will get the economy back on track, and is a stark contrast from Barack Obama. Two -- it's going to require him and his Super PAC to spend a hefty sum, since the market is more expensive than the states he just left. John Hayward has the must-read analysis and look-ahead of the upcoming votes and the shifting primary landscape.
It'll be a big day next Tuesday, so keep your eyes peeled to HUMANEVENTS.COM all week for the latest from both the Romney and Santorum campaigns.
Rep. Spencer Bachus, the Alabama congressman who was profiled in the "60 Minutes" special on insider trading by members of Congress, cruised to a primary night victory. John Gizzi has reported this story from the beginning and he has the play-by-play below.
There are some extremely compelling pieces I have found for you from the web today, including a piece on the guys night out between David Cameron and President Obama and the cost of the trip that we have to foot.
