Buried within an 1,844-page bill currently sitting on Barack Obama’s desk awaiting his signature is text that many critics are warning could give the president legal authority to send Americans to jail without charges, without trial, without end.

Both the U.S. House and Senate have passed the National Defense Authorization Act, a sweeping piece of legislation that affects dozens of aspects of foreign and military policy, but that was designed primarily to give the military – and not civilian courts – the clear authority for prosecuting and jailing terrorists.

But voices from across the political spectrum are concerned that the bill opens the door for the military – led by the president as commander in chief – to indefinitely detain American citizens, even within the U.S.

“We’re talking about American citizens who can be taken from the United States and sent to a camp at Guantanamo Bay and held indefinitely,” explains Rand Paul of Kentucky, one of 13 senators who voted against the bill. “There are laws on the books right now that characterize who might be a terrorist: someone missing fingers on their hands is a suspect, according to the Department of Justice. Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist. If you are suspected because of these activities, do you want the government to have the ability to send you to Guantanamo Bay for indefinite detention?”

The senator was likely referring to documents released by the Department of Justice in Obama’s first year in office listing everyone from returning veterans to pro-life activists to 2nd Amendment advocates as possible “domestic terrorists.”

Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan would all be flat land by now if I were calling the shots and I wouldn’t care about politics or public opinion was. These “wars” are not wars at all! They are “wealth redistribution” programs designed to transfer trillions of American dollars to ungrateful Iraqi/Afghani hands!

We spent 1.5 trillion on them and they RESENT us for it. It’s TREASON. We trained 650,000 NEW iraqi soldiers and are giving them tanks and basically everything they need to attack Israel!

It’s TREASON. Conservatives have to wake up! If Obama loves the wars, you know it’s not in our national interest!

Oh it gets better than that and justified why my way is the right way. It seems that the Muslims from Iran have now taken over Iraq. These Muslims from Iran do not like the Muslim from Iraq so what do you think is going to happen. My bet is this. the Iranian Muslims will eventually kill all the Iraqi Muslim in a version of their civil war. In the end Iraq will take over all of Iran and it won’t be long before Iran and Iraq are ONE BIG country. It looks like by not letting Israel bomb and kill the Iranians our enemy Iran will now take over all the land we freed by many deaths of our own. This is why war is not a game and it sure as he-ll is not a police action but it is exactly why you must terminate all the residence as I have suggested above. TO WIN, do you know what that means? Apparently not since you lost Vietnam for the very same reasons.

I feel like if you go to war against an enemy that’s intent on doing you harm, then you have to win or quit shaking a flemsy stick! I’m a Nam Vet and I sure didn’t like how it ended. I blame that on a lot of factors that were going on. Sad!! But, you have administations theu the past that had no backbone to finish the job. You don’t send people to die for no reason. Empty causes don’t get it. We, I think, have set an image of a weak nation with Fools for goverment. If we don’t start being the nation we once were, you can chaulk us up as compared to the Roman Empire, run by greed and lost morality before the fall. Sad isn’t it?

Imagine how a soldier must feel…He is sent by his commander-in-cheif to fight a war maybe to die or to be severely dsfigured or something even worse. Then your hands are tied behind your back by the rules of engagement and you can’t trust all of your comrades to watch your back (Ft. Hood). Then the commander says that you should pay for your own medical costs because “…you knew the risks when you enlisted…”. Then you discover that you will be placed on a potential terrorist list when you return home and oh, by the way, commander-in-cheif now wants you to shoot and kill the very American citizens that you were just overseas fighting for……

I still don’t believe that our military would take up arms against fellow Americans. A large amount of our troops are all assigned overseas. Our real strength is still in our National Guard and Reserve components. Many of them, along with local police, are also very active members of their communities and I don’t think they would take up arms against their friends, family or neighbors. I also think that relocating them to other states would not work either. I strongly believe that they would go as far as to join their fellow Americans. Before the government can act on arresting Americans, the people will have to be disarmed first. With all the guns in this country, registered or unregistered it would be very difficult to locate them. I am sure the President and his followers are well aware of this. They will have no choice but to request help from the United Nations. Then for the first time since the War of 1812, we would again be fighting foreign troops on our soil. It would be a bloodbath. I strongly believe that the people who will be kicking down our doors will not be American troops.

I did not spend 20 years active duty “supporting and defending the U. S. Constitution for people like you or those that support this provision in the National Defense Authorization Act to shred that very Constitution.

I swore to defend the Constitution from ALL enemies “foreign and domestic”!

The new efforts by Progressives (AKA Liberals) to provide for more “Diversity” on the internet combined with “Net Neutrality” will both serve to shut down forums such as this one and be used as a “New and Improved Fairness Doctrine”.

The Progressives have every intention of covering up the truth and demonizing Conservatives into non-existence.

Even with these efforts in place and moving forward, the Liberals and RINOs need a mechanism to pull Conservatives still not being squelched out of the public and lock them up for re-education.

Sounds radical, sounds like fringe conspiracy, that said, Rand Paul is a stand up guy and he has made his feelings clear.

Mr President…The current bills HR 1540 and SB 1877 National Defense Authorization Act( NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012 which are currently being reconciled in congress has as you well know inserted in the language of the bills wording which if passed in its present form gives you ( the executive branch) the ability to suspend Habeas Corpus ( the basis of civil law)and Posse Comitatus ( the law which strictly regulates the use of our military force against the American civilian population) and thusly, creates a state of martial law upon your request for power. By eliminating these two legal safeguards protecting the American public, you can create a dictatorial society which gives you the power to imprison your opposition with the stroke of a pen. If enacted in its present form, it will give you ( the executive branch) the ability to suspend every constitutional right given to the American public. You will be able to suspend freedom of speech, assembly, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, the right to a speedy trial, the right to a jury trial, the right to equal justice under the law, the right of private property, etc. by declaring without providing evidence your opposition to be terrorists and you will have the ability to define what constitutes a terrorist You will also have the ability to use the US military to enforce your policies. If this is passed in its present form you can declare yourself ( and I’m sure you will) DICTATOR FOR LIFE of the United States of America and with the help of your buddies at the UN Ruler of the World. Prove me wrong and eliminate from this legislation those concerns I previously expressed. What we must do as citizens is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We prepare by organizing into mini groups with a central director. Action is needed very soon!

When you live on food stamps due to a terrorists of the older days not called that ever, they stole all my store of food, so they could eat. One has to buy almost all of a months food in a night in order to put a meal together, then eat pea soups and beans soups the rest of the month. savvy So all broke and out of work people will be called a terrorists if they buy their foods so they can cook. The real terrorists are the foriegners, who hate America, and want to fight us yankees, and mountain folk, and flat landers and hill billies, and all of us. A few nut heads called home growns go join the ones who hate Americas christian religions, and dancing and going to church to sing a hymn. So do we stock up ramen noodles, or stock up on nothing except for a week? We all know how great Fema is in a hurricane, and flood. we are screwed.
