Dear Friends,
Because I know you support America's Military Heroes, I’m turning to you this Holiday Season with a special request. My organization, Freedom Alliance, has set a goal to raise $25,000 by December 31, 2011 so we’ll be able to continue supporting our troops and their families with care packages, Christmas presents, vacations, sporting trips, special events and dinners, and college scholarships in the New Year. We need your help to reach this goal.
Many of the troops Freedom Alliance supports have never been given the thanks and appreciation they deserve for their sacrifices. Last July, Freedom Alliance learned that the Sailors from the USS KIDD would be serving overseas, far from their families and loved ones, this holiday season.
To help make that burden just a little lighter on the families, Freedom Alliance threw a “Holidays in July Beach Bash,” just before the Sailors deployed.
“Without the generous support of Freedom Alliance this [celebration] would not have been possible,” Commander Ellinger wrote to us. “On behalf of my crew, and the families of all the mighty KIDD Sailors, I thank you for your steadfast dedication to those who protect our freedoms and the families we hold dear.”
But it’s only because of the generosity you have shown, that Freedom Alliance is able to continue touching the lives of our troops and their families.
Freedom Alliance sends thousands of care packages each year to our troops serving overseas. These packages serve as a reminder and an encouragement. Because of Freedom Alliance, our troops know that grateful Americans have not forgotten them. We mail our troops candy, toiletries, games, DVDs, CDs, and more. And with 90,000 troops still serving in Afghanistan and even more in lonely outposts throughout the world, these gifts are more important than ever before.
This year, Freedom Alliance sent a care package to CPT Chelsey, stationed in Southwest Asia. She was so deeply touched that she wrote Freedom Alliance this message: "It is so wonderful to know that someone is thinking about us while we're gone. I sincerely thank you for taking the time out of your day to help a stranger and I hope you know how much it is truly appreciated."
Almost every day, we receive a request for help from a soldier or their families, and we are proud to do everything we can to fulfill each request. But to continue this fight, to continue letting our troops know just how much America loves and appreciates them, we need your help.
This holiday season, as you enjoy time with loved ones, friends and family, Freedom Alliance is working to make sure not one of our troops will ever be forgotten, not now, and not in 2012. Our troops deserve to know their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and I'm counting on you to help make this possible. Today, your gift of just $5, $10, $15, $25, or $50 can go a long way in reminding a hero: "You are not forgotten." Will you make a generous end-of-year gift to Freedom Alliance today? Semper Fidelis,
LtCol Oliver L. North, USMC (Ret.) Freedom Alliance Founder and Honorary Chairman
