Economist Laffer Endorses Gingrich Arthur Laffer, the famous supply-side economist who was the architect of Ronald Reagan’s successful economic plan, endorsed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich for president. Laffer said Gingrich’s “low individual and corporate tax rates, deregulation, and strong dollar monetary policies will create a boom of new investment and economic growth leading to the creation of tens of millions of new jobs.” During the 1990s, Speaker Gingrich pushed through legislation that cut taxes, restrained spending, left the nation with four balanced budgets and helped create 11 million new jobs.
