‘Holy War’: Thousands Gather to Support TX Nativity Scene Against Atheists’ Attacks
Posted on December 19, 2011 by Conservative Byte
The battle over a nativity scene in Athens, Texas, reached new heights this weekend when up to 5,000 supporters flooded the town square. Their purpose? To stand firmly opposed to the attacks a prominent atheist group has waged on the religious display.
As the Blaze reported earlier this month, the Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, a group that frequently targets the presence of faith and religion in the public square, is demanding that a nativity scene be removed from public property.
On Saturday, thousands of supporters assembled in Athens Town Square to rally around and support the religious display. According to WTKR, some likened the ever-intensifying scenario a “holy war.”

This is blasphemy when the Freedom from Religion Foundation can take our heritage away. This country was founded by God. As for George Washington he believed in God and country. During the Revolutionary War, Washington kneeled down at Valley Forge to pray, in order to win the Revolution against great odds. Abraham Lincoln kneeled down because of the Civil War. These two were God-fearing men. They both kept this country together because they believed in God and country. As for the modern day presidents, they have forgotten about the Christian Heritage of this country. The reason why the settlers came to this country is for religious freedom. As for the Wisconsin atheists, they are probably getting paid by Obamo and his administration to slander God. They’re probably 501(c)3. Since this incident happened in Athens, TX, I would like to know where Perry and Ron Paul are at this time? I would like to see where they stand on this matter. If these two men are not God-fearing men and do not want to bring this God-given nation back to its Christian heritage, then we need to find someone that will do this. What difference does it make where a politician is or what he thinks. Looks like Texans don’t need no stinkin politicians to take care of this business. Don’t mess with Texas.

“Honest Abe” may have been a Christian, not disputing that, but if you read his second inaugural, guess that’s how it’s spelled, he wasn’t against slavery. Many people believe the Civil War was fought over slavery, but if they’ll do their home work they’ll discover it was fought over “states rights”. Slavery became a political issue and all politicians and history teachers want to teach the war was fought over slavery.

Sorry, LYLE KELLEY, but you failed to do YOUR homework. The Civil War was exactly and precisely about slavery. Southern politicians did their best to put up a ‘States Rights’ smokescreen, and you bought it. The South fired the first shot.
PS – I am a southerner, but I can read.

lincoln caused the deaths of more americans than most all other presidents combined. a great president would have resolved the slavery issue without internal bloodshed.

There were over 5000 people there to praise God. I live close to this and can tell you that the people of Texas take exception to being told by someone from Wisconsin to remove ANYTHING let alone a Nativity Scene! They may find out just what DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS means!
When I was growing up, people weren’t like this. What happened? I grew up in Arkansas and every year, as a child, we went to see the Nativity Scene on the courthouse steps! It was beautiful! People from all over the state came to see it as well!
I also went to school with kids of ALL religions and you never heard one peep of a protest against a Christmas Tree or a Nativity Scene…NOT ONE! So WHAT HAPPENED that people of all religions couldn’t RESPECT each other’s beliefs???? Since WHEN did a very SMALL percentage of people start to decide how WE should celebrate OUR HOLY TIME OF YEAR???? It is about time Christians started to stand up for our rights! And all this BS about separation of Church and state is a crock of S__t!!!!!!! It has been bent all out of shape from it’s intention by people who have twisted and prostituted it’s meaning. The meaning is this: There shall be no STATE church, as in the Church of England, but people shall be able to worship in their own beliefs. It is as simple as that. There will be NO STATE Church!!!!

According to Wikipedia, atheists are about 4% of our population. So why does 4% have the right to tell the other 96% what to do? Kudos to those who stood up against the 4%, we, the people will stand up and stop this ridiculous fight against Christmas.

Okay Texans and others, time to put it on the line and make a stand against these atheists regardless of the atheist judges. Turn out by the thousands to make a stand for the country. The majority of the USA is with you on this. DO NOT LET THEM TAKE THE SCENE DOWN! Show atheists that they can’t get their way on this. They can have their OWN Christmas scene with their virgin ape who they descended from.

Kim Jong Obama has yet to weigh in on this subject, but whenever he deigns to speak, it ought to be a doozie. You must remember that his religious background is either Allah-centered, or black liberation theology centered, which means he has to eventually stomp on the baby Jesus.

The atheist are entitled to their opinion, but the Constitution of the United States provides us the right to celebrate our religion without intervention from them or the government. The Constitution simply states that “Congress may make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;…” It in no way states that a city, county or state government building may not display art other Christian material, but rather that it cannot prohibit the display. It’s time to stand against these thugs and all the others and return this great nation to it’s christian roots. God Bless America.

This is great to see, citizens who are tired of being told everything they have always believed in and held sacred to be wrong. The majority rules and this town should not back down since the majority there has come out in favor of GOD. Where are these people to protest against anything else besides the Christian holidays?

Why do atheists fight so hard against something they don’t even believe in???? Does that make any sense?

Ronny West says:

No – it does not make any sense at all. If you do not believe in it and think its false, why would you waste your time fighting what you say you believe is non-existent, a “fairy tale” or myth. If I were to believe they are false and non-existent, then why bother fighting so hard against a false premise. I truly do not understand the motivation except there are external forces promoting it for devious reasons beyond what is stated.

We need to be vocal against the atheist movement! If they have a right to push their agenda on Christians then Christians have the right to push their agenda on the atheist! We are still free and we need to stand as a rock! Remember, the foolish man built his house upon the sand! I believe it is also known that those who do not believe in God are fools. The fool says in his heart “There is no God”!

First of all the nativity doesn’t enforce or indorse any religion. Many religions use the bible not just one. So which religion would the atheist say it is indorsing? I don’t see or hear of any complaints against the non Christian religions. Why just those that believe in Christ? Atheist think that if it offends them that WE must remove that which offends them. But, you can only be offended if you allow it to offend. When I see something offensive, I turn away. If I don’t feel comfortable, I leave. And if you are so easily offended by the nativity scene…..get some therapy. Oh and by the way, Atheist offend me but the Bible reminds me to turn the other cheek. That’s good advice. Try it.

I’m beginning to think that we Christians need to make a change about Christmas and any if you are welcome to take credit for this idea!!!!! it has been the tradition to GIVE GIFTS because the three wise men brought gifts for the new born king. Because Christmas has become so commercialized, it has totally lost its meaning. So does anyone who doesn’t believe in Christmas actually give or receive gifts? Christians started the tradition of gift giving, so why not just stop the gift giving and celebrate Christmas quietly and simply like we did years ago. Perhaps merchants will step in and support Christianity when the lack of purchasing affects their pockets. It’s as sacreligious to me the way people kill each other over shopping and mobs anyway. If we stop displaying and buying, there’s nothing for atheists to complain about. Oh, and maybe there wouldn’t be more travel excuses for anyone or the WH to screw taxpayers. Beginning to think I’ve been working too hard while others are deciding what to do with me and my money!

Judge not least ye be judged. God’s message is clear. I don’t believe we have the right to judge atheist or anyone else who has a belief different from ours. We, who are Christians need to pray for those who are lost and don’t know God.
