Dear
Guns & Patriots readers,
As a young man, or an old boy, I worked as a busboy, waiter, then bartender on New Year's Eve at the lamented King Phillip Ballroom "on beautiful Lake Pearl," in Wrentham, Mass., four year in a row.
It was the capstone event of the ballroom's calendar, which went dark for the next two months, before starting up again with sports dinners, conferences, proms, then weddings and the frantic crush of Christmas parties all culminating with the New Year's Eve party, and darkness again.
On what must have been my third time, I excused myself from the countdown in the Grand Ballroom and sat alone in the hallway that led to the Tree Top room. The hallway had a wall of windows, where I could stare out at the trees and murky moonlight mirror of Lake Pearl at midnight, and wait.
As one-time Doris Day trumpeter Don Ahern led his orchestra on the march from 10 to one, I watched very carefully from my perch. Then, as I expected, or as I feared, saw that nothing happened at midnight.
Content that my experiment was over, I went back to work.
One year ago, we were welcoming a new Congress. It was full of pro-gun Congressmen and Senators, who were going to rid us of the federal government's insane gun control regime. What happened?
From my perch, nothing has changed, so you, me and the rest of us have to go back to work.
This week, we are sponsored by Freedom Alliance, an honorable charity that suffered cheap shots from liberals looking to sully the reputations of its founder, Oliver North, and Sean Hannity, who have raised millions of dollars to help our military personnel and veterans. Look closely at what they are working to achieve and consider them for your generosity.
Our featured video this week is a compilation of normally quiet guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns speaking out to disrespectful visitors.
Please take the time read our articles this week, when again we meet it will be the New Year!
Enjoy,
